September-Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

 This month's inspirational message is  "Childlike Faith." I have met many families who lost their child to cancer and all of them said that their child was not afraid to die. Children have this uncanny resilience about them and I have often heard that babies can see angels even though most outgrow it.

However, we noticed when our daughter, Bella, was almost 4 years old that she had a gift to see angels. This continued through her years and up until her passing, two weeks after turning 15years old. She would often get frustrated that we couldn't see them. I believe that God gave her this ability to see another realm so that she could share the love and hope of Jesus with others. 

In the Gospels, Jesus points to children as examples of humility and total trust. Maybe as adults our vision becomes clouded by the realities of everyday life that often keeps our focus on the task at hand. This leads to worry, stress, anxiety and sleepless nights. If we turn our posture to trust in our Father as children trust in us, then we can surrender our problems knowing that He has us.

As painful as it was to watch our child take her final breath, I often ponder over this powerful scripture verse, Mark 10:14-15- "Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.

Our children are God's first and only lent to us for a duration to share the love of Jesus with them like He does with us. Accepting God's promises with an open, honest and grateful heart helps us to trust Him completely with peace, no matter our circumstance. Continue to grow humbly in childlike faith with reverence, awe and wonder of the "One" who loves us all.

The scripture verse: Luke 18:17 "Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and in Bella's memory, please read story at her science page link: osinst.org/bella-muntean-fund and spread the word to raise awareness.  Bella's dying wish was to find better treatments so that no child would suffer from this painful disease like she did and that there would be a cure one day.

As we approach retirement and close the nonprofit at the end of this year, our family will be continuing our partnership with the Osteosarcoma Institute in memory of Bella for better treatments and hopes of survival for others battling this rare and aggressive bone cancer. There hasn't been a new treatment in over 40 years. Since OSI's inception in 2017 they already have 2 clinical trials and their administrative salaries are covered by a private foundation. They are focused on the cure!
