August-A season of Hope

As summer dwindles down and school resumes we wish everyone a safe and blessed school year ahead.

The monthly message is: Our Healing Hope

There is so much cancer, disease and sickness, both physically and mentally throughout our world but praise God that we have hope in Jesus!

Thank goodness for scientists who search continuously for improved advancements with treatments and cures. Many also search for holistic remedies which can be helpful.

 Jesus visited a pool in Bethesda that was in Jerusalem, a place where many persons with ailments would linger in hopes of healing. It was believed to have healing properties when an angel stirred the water, and the first person to enter afterward would be healed. He sought out a man among them who "had been an invalid for thirty-eight years" (John 5:5). Jesus confirmed with the man that he wanted to be healed. The man told him that he had no one to help him and he tried many times to make it into the pool of water when it was active but others made it in ahead of him.  Jesus, knowing the man's long-standing condition, miraculously healed him by simply telling him to "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked( v. 8-9).

What science seeks to achieve on behalf of those who suffer, Jesus performed through many miracles. He healed the sick, the paralyzed, the blind, the demon possessed and even raised a dead man from the grave. 

No matter how much we pray, we are not promised that all of our ailments will be healed by God just like the others at the pool who weren't healed by Jesus that day.

However, those who put their hope and trust in Him can experience the healing He brings- from despair to hope, no mercy to grace, unforgiveness to forgiveness and from hatred to love.  No scientific discovery or pool of water can offer us such healing. This healing only comes from our faith in God. Even though we may not always receive an earthly healing for whatever ails us,  we can rest assured that we have eternal hope for complete healing because of our belief in Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for healing my greatest ailment which is sin and restoring my spiritual health and hope in Jesus. 

Scripture verse: John 5:9  At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
